Ballet World is a Shop For Dancers, By Dancers
We are a shop of dancers for dancers. From footwear to accessories we love all things dance and hope to help you find the shoes or leotard or skirt for you. Specialising in shoe fittings, we apply our knowledge of feet and shoes to help you find the pair that works for you. Your shoes must fit well, look beautiful and allow you to dance with as much joy and freedom as your heart desires
An idea grew from a single box of shoes in Louise Kent’s car and has grown into what is now Ballet World, supplying pointes shoes, garments, and accessories to dancers and dance stores all over South Africa.
We specialise in pointe shoe fittings, taking pride not only in our range of pointe shoe brands and styles but in our unique fitting method. We have researched not only the specifics of the different brands and how they each work but also how different feet need to be supported. Working alongside the dancer to find the ideal fit that is comfortable (as comfortable as a pointe shoe can be!) for the dancer as well as anatomically supportive according to our methodology.
Everyone who works at the shop also has dance training and experience so understands the concerns and needs of the dancers who come into the shop. From leotard fit to exam shoes and everything in between, chances are, we know what you need.

MEET THE TEAM
Louise Kent
Owner
Louise trained and worked professionally as a ballet dancer in the U.K and South Africa. She obtained degrees in dance and sports science to further her knowledge in dance prehab and rehab as well as the professional fitting of pointe shoes. She is a member of IADMS (International Association for Dance Medicine & Science) and SASMA (The South African Sports Medicine Association) and strives to bring her knowledge to a wider audience through Ballet World.
Zoe Hannan
General Manager
Zoe primarily trained in Ballet from the Eastern Cape with the late Geraldine Cross where she returns annually to offer pointe shoes fitting for the dancers of East London. She furthered her dance training at UCT school of Dance, where she completed her Diploma in contemporary dance teaching. She briefly danced for CTCB before moving on to teach Pilates at a few studios around Cape Town.
Zoe started working at The Ballet Shop during her 1st year at UCT in 2015 and is currently using her passion for organization and accuracy as the General Manager at Ballet World.
Zoe also runs a Ballet Shoe Sewing service if your needlework isn’t up to scratch!
